Associate Veterinarian Serving Monroe County since 1956, the Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA) is a 501c3 charitableorganizationdedicatedtopromotingthewelfareofcompanionanimals,strengtheningthe human-animalbond,andprovidingaccesstoveterinarycareandhumaneeducationacrossthe community. Position Summary: The Associate Veterinarian provides compassionate, practical veterinary care focused on each patient’s medicalneedsandthecircumstancesofthefamilycaringforthem.Thispositionmayincludewellness care,sickvisits,diagnostics,chronicdiseasemanagement,spayandneutersurgery,limitedadditional surgery, and end-of-life care. Weunderstandthatclientsmayfacenancialorpersonalbarriers.Ourveterinarianshelpfamilies understandtheiroptionsanddeveloprealistictreatmentplansthatprotecttheanimal’shealthwhile respecting the client’s circumstances. TheAssociateVeterinarianworkscloselywithMCHA’sMedicalDirector,veterinarytechnicians,assistants,administrative staff,outreach team,and nonprot leadership.Full-time,part-time,and relief arrangementsmaybeconsideredbasedontheveterinarian’sinterestsandMCHA’sneeds. Essential Position Duties & Responsibilities: Examine,diagnose,andtreatcompanionanimals,specificallycats &dogs. Developappropriatetreatmentplansandclearlyexplainoptions,costs,andfollow-upcareto clients. Performandinterpretdiagnostictesting,includingradiographyandlaboratorytesting. Prescribemedicationsandprovidepreventiveandongoingmedicalcare. Performspayandneuterproceduresandothersurgeriesconsistentwiththeveterinariansexperience. Maintaincompleteandaccuratemedicalrecords. Providecompassionateend-of-lifecarewhentreatmentisnolongereffectiveorappropriate. CollaboratewithstafftosupportpetsservedthroughMCHA’sclinic,CrisisHousing,StreetOutreach,andcommunityprograms. Followprofessional,ethical,safety,andcontrolled-substancestandards. Contributetorespectful,supportive,andmission-focusedworkplace. Qualications: DoctorofVeterinaryMedicineorequivalentdegreefromanaccreditedinstitution. LicensedoreligiblefortopracticeveterinarymedicineinIndiana. Strongclinicaljudgmentandcommitmenttopatientwelfare. Compassionateandrespectfulcommunicationwithclientsfromawiderangeofcircumstances. Abilitytoworkcollaborativelywithveterinaryandnonprotteammembers. CommitmenttoaccessibleveterinarycareandMCHA’smission. ExperiencewithAvimarkishandfulbutnotrequired. Newgraduatesandexperiencedveterinariansareencouragedtoapply. Compensation and Benets: Full-timecompensationstartsat$110,000annuallyandincreasesbasedonexperience,schedule,and servicesprovided,includingsurgicalcare.Parttimeandreliefcompensationbasedonhoursworked, experience and services provided.
