Registered Nurse Post Partum

The RN performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The RN is delegated an assignment by the coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator. Documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation by the Nurse Manager, and patient evaluations of care provide evidence of collaboration. The RN is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care. The RN is ultimately accountable to the Patient Care Manager. Other job duties may be assigned as needed. The RN demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The RN also demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles. The RN possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. The RN interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. The RN provides the care needed based on these assessments. The RN demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation. Shift reports and verbal communication are essential for success. The RN communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members. The RN maintains clinical skills, staying current in skills, equipment, and certifications. This includes knowledge of the Infant Security System, Baby Friendly Initiative, and Family Centered Care. Effective communication with others occurs in an appropriate and timely manner. The RN adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, including customer service, safety, and compliance standards. Building respectful relationships with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals is crucial. The RN follows the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Mental and physical demands require the ability to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. The RN typically provides couplet care and operates in a high-risk, fast-paced environment. The RN may be required to float to assist with tasks as needed.
