SUMMARY

Takes lead to set up jobs for other operators, trouble shoots jobs and works with other departments needed to get job running for operators.  Operator must be able to work independently without leadership direction to complete preset plans/schedule of dies to be set, removed or other operation tasks as scheduled. Takes lead to move operators to other jobs when their primary job is down for repair of die or equipment.  Can set up own jobs, coils and do first article inspection. Operator is capable of running with limited supervision, capable of moving to secondary job without direction when primary job is down for tool room repair or equipment repair by other departments.  Operator performs in various general production activities, tasks such as assembly, inspection, press operation, material handling, shipping and housekeeping functions by performing the following duties. Opens and closes plant as needed.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

·      ORGANIZED WORK ENVIRONMENT. Keeps workstation and area around workstation neat and orderly. Comes prepared with all tools, job paperwork, safety supplies and special equipment, if necessary, prior to starting the job.

·      QUALITY INSPECTION AND RECORD KEEPING. Understands and follows all quality instructions, work instructions and procedures.  Accurately and legibly records information on quality and production related paperwork on in electronic system.

·      SAFETY. Understands and properly uses all safety devices and equipment at all times.

·      "TEAMWORK ATTITUDE". Capable of working as part of a team and a commitment to support group decisions.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS (In addition to the above)

Responsibilities may include any of the following:

·      Set and troubleshoot Press operations, coils, feeders, sensors, and straighteners

·      Utilize the Router System for job specifics and update it upon completion, and also use and update the job book accordingly.

·      Operate forklift and all material handling equipment

·      Load and/or unload Work In-Process (WIP) material through various operations

·      Align parts between dies and/or position dies against fixtures on machines

·      Operate drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation

·      Ability to operate job specific equipment:  arbor press, counter balanced manual or other equipment as required

·      Monitor operation of equipment using Press Controls, directions and indicators

·      Use Press Controls to identify potential problems

·      Assembles metal products, partially or completely, working at bench or on shop floor or at any production station

·      Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, rivets, pins, clamps or other fasteners

·      Remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts

·      Operate machine at production standard, notify management immediately of any issues

·      Stack/hang partially formed material into rack or container

·      Inspect parts

·      Monitor stock of items needed at work station for part production, boxes, coils, etc.

·      Sweep floors, mops around machines, and cleans up immediate spills

·      Remove trash

·      Opening and closing of plant, as needed. All alarms, compressors, lights, and doors

·      Lead other Press Room employees as needed

·      Lead/assist with the training of Press Room employees as needed
