Registered/Certified Medical Assistant

Digital Online A/S

We are looking for a Medical Assistant to work in our Community Health Center in Southeast Utah. Our clinic is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and more. UNHS will be hiring 2 full‑time positions. Applicants should have experience in screening patients and assisting a medical team, and guiding patients through healthcare processes. long‑term disability insurance Location: Montezuma Creek, UT Critical Tasks Perform nursing assessment and identify pertinent information to verbalize to provider Review and implement primary care provider orders Participate in ongoing education and training Educate patients regarding their healthcare and the healthcare system Reduce the risk of infections Safely administer medications Perform nursing evaluation and follow‑up with patients for continued comprehensive care Accept delegated tasks according to Utah Nurse Practice Act Key Performance Indicators Interview patient to determine medical problem/condition Address patient telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's problems and questions Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to provider Obtain patient's vital signs, pain level, and weight Screen patient for depression, changes in tobacco use, caffeine use, diet, health literacy level, preferred method of learning, and medication allergies Collect samples such as urine, blood, and sputum for testing and follow‑up Dress wounds, apply hot or cold compresses as ordered Assemble and use oxygen supplies Order diagnostic procedures and labs with verbal order read‑back Maintain Basic Life Support certification Attend mandatory monthly meetings Attend online webinars, conferences, and training that emphasize your role/responsibilities Locate articles and stay up to date on latest evidence‑based practice Complete yearly competencies as assigned by supervisor Educate patients about immunizations verbally, and give written Vaccine Information Sheet Educate patient about medication side‑effects, disease, comorbidities, family planning, and wellness Maintain proper hand‑hygiene Use personal protective equipment (PPE) per CDC recommendations Perform low‑level disinfection of medical equipment, devices, and supplies Properly sterilize equipment and supplies Maintain supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies Properly dispose of expired or damaged supplies, medical equipment, and devices Administer medications as prescribed orally, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly, and document time and amount on chart Update patients on immunization schedule per CDC recommendations Remove expired medication/injectable and products from crash cart, place order with administrator or pharmacist for replacement Write prescriptions at provider's request with verbal read‑back Assist patient with scheduling appointments Follow up with patients who miss appointments Follow up with patients on lab results, including scheduling additional tests Write referrals with verbal read‑back for insurance and other offices, and follow‑up Confirm medical records are available before follow‑up appointments Ensure delegated tasks are not complex, understood, and adequately trained before accepting Ensure delegated tasks are performed safely and patient is safe Ensure appropriate supervision is available during delegated tasks Seek clarification and request additional training and guidance for delegated tasks Report care results to delegator in a timely manner Metrics Document patient assessment in health record prior to scheduled appointment or walk‑in Document patient orders with verbal read‑back within 24 hours of visit Document nursing interventions, evaluations, and notifications within 24 hours of visit Document communication regarding appointments, labs, referrals, and medical records within 24 hours of contact Maintain record of certifications and trainings within a calendar year Document room cleaning and expired supply removal, return documentation to supervisor monthly Schedule and hold monthly or quarterly rounding meetings with direct supervisor Requirements Medical Assistant Certification or registration in the state of Utah One year certificate from an accredited college or university Ability to safely lift, push, and pull fifty (50) pounds or more above waist level License/Certification Must possess an American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet insurability requirements Must successfully pass a criminal background check Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen Must obtain and maintain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification Must receive annual flu vaccine inoculation Must receive annual tuberculosis skin test Immunization Requirements MMR: Documentation of two vaccines or titers Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses) or documentation of immunity Proof of up‑to‑date PPD skin testing or positive PPD with recent chest x‑ray Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) Varicella titers, history of varicella or immunization series Influenza vaccine for current year COVID‑19 vaccine Any other vaccinations as requested Legal & Equal Employment Opportunity In accordance with
