Fraud Investigator II
Truliant Federal Credit Union
Fraud Investigator II
Truliant's mission is to improve lives by putting our members first, providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. Our core values of Member Focus, Service, Guidance, Relationships, and Community define how we interact with members to fulfill our mission of improving lives and providing a foundation on which we conduct ourselves.
Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do.
Fraud can have a lasting impact on a member's financial well-being and trust. As a Fraud Investigator II at Truliant Federal Credit Union, you'll lead complex investigations that help protect our members, reduce losses, support recovery efforts, and strengthen how we respond to evolving financial crime.
This role is a great fit for an experienced investigator who enjoys following the details, making sound decisions in time-sensitive situations, and partnering with others to turn findings into meaningful action.
In this role, you'll take ownership of complex, high-risk fraud investigations across deposit, lending, card, wire, check, ACH, identity theft, elder abuse, account takeover, and digital channels. You'll manage cases from initial review through documentation, reporting, escalation, and resolution while helping Truliant respond to emerging fraud risks.
Day to day, you'll:
- Lead and prioritize multiple investigations, analyze account activity and other evidence, validate member claims, and document clear, accurate findings.
- Prepare investigative reports and recommendations for leadership, regulatory agencies, law enforcement, and other external authorities.
- Partner with teams across Truliant, including Compliance and Legal, to reduce losses, support recoveries, file Suspicious Activity Reports, respond to criminal subpoenas, and strengthen fraud prevention practices.
Beyond individual casework, you'll serve as a trusted fraud resource, share investigative best practices, support employee training, and help identify proactive responses to new or evolving fraud trends.
You'll succeed in this role if you combine strong investigative judgment with careful documentation, clear communication, and the ability to move complex work forward with limited supervision.
This role is a great fit if you have:
- Demonstrated experience leading complex or high-risk financial crime investigations, analyzing detailed financial activity, and presenting findings to leadership or external authorities.
- Experience managing multiple high-priority investigations while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and timely case resolution.
- Knowledge of financial crimes requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including the Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
- Ability to analyze complex data, assess risk, make well-supported decisions, and recommend actions that support loss prevention and recovery.
- Ability to prepare clear investigative documentation and reports for leadership, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively with law enforcement and governmental agencies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, along with the ability to use internal systems, databases, and open-source research tools.
- Ability to protect sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Risk Management, or 10 years of related experience in place of the degree.
You should also be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, balancing time-sensitive priorities, and communicating difficult or complex findings with accuracy, integrity, and a member-focused mindset.
You don't need to check every box, but here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Seven or more years of experience in financial crimes investigations.
- Experience with electronic investigations, including online banking and ACH transactions.
- A Certified Financial Crime Specialist, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, or Certified Fraud Examiner credential.
- Experience providing evidence, supporting criminal investigations, delivering expert testimony, or developing fraud prevention training.
In this role, you can expect:
- Purpose-driven work that directly helps protect Truliant members and the financial well-being of the Credit Union.
- Opportunities to deepen your expertise through complex investigations, emerging fraud trends, cross-functional partnerships, and collaboration with external agencies.
- A collaborative environment where your judgment, recommendations, and fraud prevention ideas can influence how Truliant manages risk and supports its members.
- Team member benefits and resources designed to support your well-being, development, and long-term success at Truliant.
