Working Group Leader
The Working Group Leader is responsible for 10-20 direct reports and/or a group of designated machines. Is a key member of the company's Operational Team.
Reports to the Operations Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and promote Good Safety practices with all employees
- Regularly and proactively communicate with the Manager on any issues that impact production, quality, or safety, so each issue is addressed by priority.
- Uses computer- or paper-based tracking methods, related to machine and individual efficiency.
- Coordinate and assign personnel activities to meet the scheduled priorities.
- Adapt and react quickly to changes/priorities based on Customer delivery requirements.
- Analyze and resolve work problems that arise. Assist personnel in solving work problems.
- Monitors designated work areas to ensure all scheduled 6s activities are completed and logged off as scheduled.
- Provide instruction and guidance to your team to give them the knowledge to be successful.
- Provide insight on the scheduled employee performance reviews and evaluations.
- Utilize observations and performance metrics to make strategic planning for necessary training and development for your team members
- Be the ambassador to drive the EOS process with your team members.
Production Responsibilities:
- Oversee and monitor the set-ups and operation of your scheduled machines.
- Estimate worker-hour requirements.
- Be aligned with the Maintenance Department to ensure the machines are repaired in sequence of priority to meet customer demand.
- When needed help fill in a production role to keep needed parts on schedule.
Quality Responsibilities:
- Work with the Quality Assurance Department to interpret drawings, specifications to ensure product being manufactured matches all Customer requirements.
- Take the lead in resolving quality issues and problems.
- Monitor scheduled operator quality checks and coach as needed to minimize non-conformance parts.
Continuous Improvement Responsibilities:
- Recommend process improvement measures for cost reductions to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of products and working conditions.
- Lead all setup reduction activities.
- Implement and maintain 6S program (organization of tooling, workstations) in assigned area.
- Assist in team building activities.
Educational Level:
High School Diploma / or Equivalent required, technical diploma in machining and/or supervision would be a plus.
Previous Experience:
- 2+ years Shop lead or Supervisor experience required.
- Precision CNC Mill or Lathe experience a PLUS.
- Quality Assurance experience a PLUS.
Physical Demand:
Must be able to be on feet for entire shift.
