Field Heavy Duty Repair Technician

Peterson Cat has a need for an experienced Field Heavy Duty Repair Technician based at our Fortuna, CA location.

This position performs service activities at job sites and customer locations for customer and/or sales and rental fleet equipment.

Essential job functions include maintaining a safe working environment, communicating with internal and external customers, traveling to and from customer sites to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment in the field, analyzing and diagnosing equipment malfunctions, repairing, replacing or rebuilding engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems, writing service reports that accurately document diagnosis and repairs performed, possessing basic computer knowledge and ability to use service software required in position, preparing required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring assigned company vehicle maintains a clean professional appearance and is in proper working order, performing assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner, following manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and to preserve and document component failure information for accurate failure analysis, projecting a positive professional image with customers, communicating with customers; keeping customers informed on status of work, developing and maintaining a strong customer service relationship with all customer contacts, operating company or personal vehicle as needed, and maintaining punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

Qualifications include an Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field preferred; and a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment repair, preferably in a heavy industrial environment with or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must be a member of Local 3 of the Operating Engineers or be willing to become a member as a condition of employment.

The pay rate for this position is: $46.15. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
