Part-Time Head Chef / Line Cook for Sovereign Cafe

Position Overview

Sovereign Cafe is seeking a reliable and skilled Part-Time Head Chef / Line Cook to assist with kitchen prep, inventory management, and private event food service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well with a team, and takes pride in maintaining quality, cleanliness, and consistency in the kitchen. We are hiring NOW!

The ideal candidate will have experience in restaurant or food service environments and be comfortable operating standard commercial kitchen equipment. Fast food experience is welcomed; however, casual dining or full-service restaurant kitchen experience is preferred.

Schedule & Availability

• Part-time position
• One weekday prep/inventory shift weekly (likely Wednesdays)
• Event-based shifts primarily on Fridays and Saturdays, with occasional Sundays
• Flexibility for private events and varying event schedules preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and complete basic food prep for weekly service and events
• Assist with kitchen inventory management and stock organization
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment including stovetops, toaster ovens, and deep fryers
• Execute food orders efficiently during private events and service periods
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and maintain organized workstations
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries when needed
• Follow recipes, portioning, and food presentation standards
• Communicate effectively with management and team members during service

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous food service or kitchen experience required
• Fast food experience accepted; restaurant kitchen experience preferred
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and food safety practices
• Ability to efficiently handle a high volume of orders while maintaining food quality, organization, and attention to detail during busy shifts and private events
• Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Dependable, punctual, and professional
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Strong comprehension, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and attention to detail
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies/equipment as needed
