JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary Responsible for implementing ongoing treatment and therapy plans for eligible children through five years of age and providing documentation of services under the direct supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist. Duties/Responsibilities All duties will comply with all rules, regulations, and practices of the agency and its regulating authorities. WCFD standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD. Provides direct services to children in a variety of settings and weather conditions under the supervision of the speech language pathologist, in a variety of settings to children including the classroom, private childcares and preschools, and family homes. Meets timelines for required program documentation such as (but not limited to) case note documentation, child outcome summary forms, assessment reports as well as any required reports related to the job, child goals, objectives, etc. and manage multiple priorities associated with the requirements of the job while maintaining an effective and efficient work schedule. Works within federal and state guidelines in providing therapy services. Has a working knowledge regarding the use of traditional and non-traditional methods used in providing speech/language services to young children. Has sufficient knowledge of typical speech and language development. Attends IEP/IFSP meetings under the direction of the SLP. Assists in implementation of speech/language goals based on individual needs. Accurately documents information gathered and data collected from speech/language therapy sessions. Relates detailed outcomes of therapy activities with the SLP. Documents progress toward a child’s IFSP/IEP goals and objectives under the guidance of the SLP. Carries out appropriate treatment, interventions and activities, under the guidance of the SLP, to promote attainment of goals and objectives dependent upon the needs of a child. Completes and ensures Medicaid referral process is carried out in timely and efficient manner. Participates in preschool screening activities as designated by the Director of Early Intervention/ Area Director/Center Director /Supervising SLP. Participates in child and family outreach and recruitment efforts Ensure ability to perform job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations Perform additional tasks assigned by the Board or its designee Adhere to all policies, guidelines, and operational procedures set forth by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Reliable, organized, and detail oriented Must possess strong problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately Excellent interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with individuals with diverse ranges of personalities, backgrounds, and knowledge bases Strong communication skills are essential to interact with staff, children, families, and the broader community. Must have effective stress management strategies and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations. Flexibility is key; the ability to adapt to changing daily routines is required. Bilingual candidates are preferred. Education and Experience A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistants Program or a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age (state requirements). Must be willing to attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc. WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations can be made for persons with disabilities. Must possess visual acuity and stamina to read technical material for extended periods of time. Be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time without fatigue or discomfort. Must be able to travel to site locations, meetings and trainings, both in and out of state. Must be willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions. Must be able to hear and process ordinary conversation and telephone conversation. Must be able to tolerate air-conditioned buildings and fluorescent lights. Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach, to retrieve materials and supplies from ground level to a height of at least 5 ft. Must have upper body strength to lift and carry the equivalent of 50 pounds. Must be able to assist a child to safety in case of an emergency. Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.
