Server - Soho House Portland

At Soho House, a Server is responsible for understanding, discussing and educating members and guests about all menu items and any associated allergies (if applicable), while presenting an approachable and elevated experience in accordance with Soho House Service Standards. The Server plays a critical role in ensuring service success and guest satisfaction, collaborates with team members, completes pre‑service and post‑service duties, accurately enters orders into the POS, and remains attentive during service to support additional member or guest requests. A successful Server maintains a positive and influential attitude, is detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and flexible while working under pressure, ensuring seamless communication between the Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) staff. Main Duties Develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and management, and complete checklists on all trained processes learned in Club School. Positively influence members' and guests' experience by elevating the dining experience with food and drink pairing options, discussing specials, and driving sales through consistent, approachable communication and the highest level of service in accordance with Soho House Standards. Maintain communication and advise Management and the Executive Chef on allergies or potential red flags encountered throughout the night to mitigate any forecasted risk. Complete all checkout reports at the end of each shift and have them double‑checked and signed by management. Adhere to health and safety policies, as well as all Company policies, procedures, standards and local, state, and federal law as applicable. Ensure food orders are finished, plated, and coursed correctly before serving members/guests. Assist runners and bussers when possible with expo and service bar tickets to support all table orders. Clean and stock server alley and bar area, polish silverware, plates, and/or glassware as needed. Have knowledge of the menu and the ability to make suggestions if requested by members and/or guests. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager. Required Skills/Qualifications Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity. Thrive in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments and maintain calm while quickly and effectively problem‑solving under pressure. Be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service, and respectful towards colleagues and guests. Demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School. Work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed. Take direction, work in a team environment, and work autonomously. Hold an OLCC certification and possess POS (Micros) knowledge. Physical Requirements Be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands. Perform periodical fast‑paced movements to move from one part of the property to others. Move, pull, carry, or lift at least 20 pounds. Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb. Perform physical activities such as lifting, cleaning, and stooping. Stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time. Bend, stoop, lift, reach, push, twist, walk, crouch, and squat.
