Position Category: Permanent, exempt, full-time, 12-month contract, 222 days

Position Summary: The Campus Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the school facility and making sure the school looks neat and presentable to the public. S/he upholds the image of the school by performing janitorial duties. The successful candidate will be task oriented, highly organized, dedicated, dependable, and able to handle a variety of jobs simultaneously.

Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect all bathrooms for adequate supply of toiletries, replenish hand soap, hand towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean all restrooms by mopping floors, cleaning mirrors, wiping down sinks, cleaning toilets, and removing dirt, stains, and trash from floor.
• Assist with all lunch duties, monitor and clean cafeteria between lunches by wiping tables, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash, and moving trash to designated areas.
• Continuously monitor public/common areas for removal of all litter, damp mopping spillages, emptying of trash receptacles, and removal of spots from surfaces.
• Clean interior and exterior surfaces of lobby windows, windowsills, and

• Replace light bulbs/fluorescent tubes and other light duties such as changing ceiling tiles.

• Monitor exterior perimeter of the buildings to remove litter and other debris. Sweep leaves and standing water to ensure that the area is in a neat and orderly condition.
• Complete assigned tasks including, but not limited to: moving of office-related furniture, equipment and supplies on an as-needed basis; set-ups and take downs of campus events/functions.
• Assist maintenance manager.
• Report damages.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Follow school emergency guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard cleaning supplies and tools

Posture: Prolonged standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Work is located on campus site in a school environment; regular exposure to noise; ability to work outdoors as needed

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Minimum Education, Experience and Knowledge

• High School Diploma or GED certificate
• Six to twelve months janitorial experience preferred
• Able to work a flexible schedule which may include a night or weekend at some point, if needed
• Must be reliable, punctual, and professional
• Familiarity with standard cleaning supplies and tools
• Basic math skills
• Solid verbal communication skills to interact with all stakeholders
• Valid driver license, if possible
