PHP THERAPIST (LCPC/LCSW) - Full time

Program Overview The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive five-day treatment program serving children and adolescents ages 5 through 17 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. Patients follow a personalized treatment plan for therapy and medication management and are only required to be in the hospital during their scheduled PHP hours. Job Summary The PHP Therapist provides direct patient care and leadership to the department. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, activities of daily living, conducting contraband searches, conducting social history assessment interviews, producing social work assessments or assessment updates, documenting psychosocial histories, discharge planning, patient contacts, treatment updates, and more. The Program Therapist also creates and revises individual and master treatment plans, implements programs, conducts individual and family counseling sessions, runs group sessions, prepares group materials, documents in tracking sheets, progress notes, and group session notes, initiates discharge/aftercare planning, and provides support networks to DCFS, SASS, school social workers, and teachers. The therapist identifies appropriate referral for post‑discharge services, establishes rapport, follows policies related to release of information and confidentiality, and attends multidisciplinary treatment staff meetings as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate competency in the criteria listed below. Staff must be flexible for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations, including children, pre‑adolescents, adolescents, and adult patients. Education: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field. Experience: 1–3 years of experience working with a psychiatric patient population (preferred). Licensure/Certification: LSW or LPC preferred; BLS Provider and CPI certification required upon completion of orientation and must remain active throughout employment. Knowledge: Psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, age‑specific development, limit setting and behavior management, CPI leadership skills, and diagnostic understanding behind behaviors exhibited within a milieu.
