Specialty Maintenance Lead

Summary ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, is seeking a Special Maintenance Lead for NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park includes four major venues: NRG Center, NRG Stadium, NRG Astrodome, and NRG Arena. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and oversees specialty maintenance personnel and coordination of vehicle fleets, carpentry, painting, grease traps, fire systems, roof inspections, and stadium mechanical operations. Responsibilities Personnel Management: staffing, interviewing, hiring, training, onboarding, performance evaluation, attendance monitoring, and providing coaching and feedback. Maintenance Coordination: direct daily activities of specialty maintenance teams, including vehicle/golf cart fleets, carpentry, painting trades, grease traps, Ansul fire systems, building roof inspections, repairs, and stadium mechanical roof control. Project Management: serve as project manager for assigned projects, gather bid sheets, plan and schedule projects with outside contractors, and coordinate with events and adjacent facilities. Budgeting and Planning: assist in the development of the annual departmental operational budget, recommend capital budgets for repairs and improvements, and develop lists of necessary repairs. Communication and Coordination: keep clients and contractors informed, ensure facility rules, regulations, and policies are followed, and maintain good working relationships with staff and project contractors. Safety and Compliance: uphold safety standards, schedule required inspections, and ensure all fire, emergency, lighting, and control systems are operational. Qualifications Proven leadership abilities and prior experience in a management role. Strong consensus‑building, teamwork, problem‑solving, and coaching skills. Knowledge of operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, and event‑related services. Technical knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, building hardware, electrical/lighting systems, and shop drawings. Experience with supervisory responsibilities, performance management, and safety compliance. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle on‑call, after‑hours, and weekend support. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university or four (4) years of comparable experience plus required related experience. Four years of supervisory or managerial experience in the public assembly industry is required. Forklift experience and a valid motor vehicle license are preferred. Skills and Abilities Work independently with strong judgment and initiative. Adapt to fast‑paced, changing environments. Proficiency with computer applications: CAD, Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel. Physical capability to lift 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work on feet for 8–10 hours. Operate a forklift safely and comply with all relevant regulations. Physical Demands This position requires regular movement around the facility, standing for extended periods during events, and performing strenuous physical tasks including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing. Work inside or outside the building may be required, often in unfavorable weather conditions. The role may demand long, irregular hours and includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
