Job Description

We are looking for an Industrial Crane Technician to come join our team. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and performing preventive maintenance on industrial overhead cranes, hoists, and related equipment. This position requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to safely work at heights of up to 100 feet in a heavy industrial environment.

The technician will support approximately 37 cranes ranging from 10-ton to 180-ton capacity , with crane heights ranging from approximately 40 to 105 feet . The position is approximately 70% reactive maintenance and 30% planned preventive maintenance .

Responsibilities include electrical troubleshooting, diagnosing motors and control circuits, reading electrical prints and schematics, troubleshooting inside electrical cabinets, repairing wiring, and identifying the source of electrical power and control issues.

The technician will also perform routine inspections and maintenance, including testing hoist, bridge, and trolley operation; checking emergency stops and controls; testing upper and lower limit switches; inspecting and testing brakes; inspecting hooks, latches, load blocks, wire rope, gearboxes, wheels, bearings, and drive components; lubricating equipment; and identifying abnormal noises, vibration, oil leaks, overheating, or other potential equipment issues.

Requirements

• Strong electrical background with proven experience troubleshooting electrical circuits and equipment.

• Ability to troubleshoot motors, controls, contactors, relays, limit switches, and other electrical components.

• Experience working with high-voltage electrical systems .

• Ability to safely troubleshoot inside electrical cabinets and control panels.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams .

• Experience diagnosing why electrical components are not receiving power and identifying the source of electrical failures.

• Previous experience in a heavy industrial environment , such as:- Steel or metal processing

  • Paper mills
  • Oil & gas
  • Chemical plants
  • Heavy manufacturing
  • Similar industrial facilities

• Industrial crane, overhead crane, hoist, or material-handling experience preferred.

• Mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance experience.

• Experience inspecting and maintaining gearboxes, brakes, bearings, wire rope, hooks, wheels, sheaves, and drive components.

• Comfortable working at heights of up to 100 feet .

• Ability to perform both reactive troubleshooting and planned preventive maintenance.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to work independently and respond quickly to equipment failures.

• Strong commitment to safety and proper electrical and equipment safety procedures.

• Ability to identify potential equipment problems before they result in equipment failure or unsafe conditions.
