Purpose of this Position The Manager of Operations (Manager) provides daily operation oversight of the Eisminger Fitness Center, Redhawks Complex, and other UREC fitness Facilities. The Manager is supervised by the Associate Director, and interfaces with the Assistant Directors and partners in Facilities and Athletics. This is a temporary position. Postion Responsibilites Facility Management, Operations & Capital Projects Schedules, manages, maintains, and supervises the William F. Eisiminger Fitness Center, Redhawk Complex (150,000 square-foot indoor recreation and athletic facility), SU Park (multi-purpose field, softball field, and jogging track), and four tennis courts. Collaborates with the Department of Facilities Operations and non-university contractors/vendors to ensure the proper maintenance of all recreation and intercollegiate athletic facilities. Approves all policies and procedures for the proper operation of recreation facilities. Manages the maintenance and daily operation of all recreation facilities including ensuring field lighting schedules are maintained, work orders are submitted in a timely manner, and equipment is appropriately stored. Collaborates with the Department of Facilities Services and non-university contractors/vendors to ensure the proper maintenance within the facilities. Enforces rules and regulations specific to the recreational programs and facility. Ensures immediate incident reporting in all areas of responsibility. Manages access control and communication for outside user groups. Recommends, selects, and inventories capital equipment purchases for recreation facilities. Manages daily deposits of cash and other financial resources for membership sales. Supervision and Program Operation Promotes, hires, trains, and supervises 20-40 UREC operations staff for all building and program supervision. Assists with the management and implementation of departmental assessments. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Demonstrated experience supervising and developing professional staff and graduate students Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentations and group facilitation Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university’s mission, vision and values All positions at Seattle University require a criminal history background check First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management/administration, or a related field plus a minimum of three years of professional experience in the administration of campus recreation programs or a related field with at least one year of facilities management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Compensation at a Glance $28 per hour Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
