Field Project Technician: Highway Inspection & Survey

Field Project Technician - Bozeman Materials Lab (Requisition #: 26140954) Responsibilities Coordinate and conduct inspection, sampling, and testing procedures to confirm construction project features and materials meet standard specifications, Department requirements, and contract agreements. Perform staking and surveying procedures. Operate gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment. Manage and calibrate specialized tools and equipment. Document and report on project implementation. Required Education and Experience No engineering technician-related experience required for Field Project Technician I ($22.46/hr). One year of engineering technician-related experience required for Field Project Technician II ($23.25/hr). Two years of highway construction or related field experience required for Field Project Technician III ($26.09/hr). Three years of highway construction or related field experience required for Junior Engineering Coordinator ($30.49/hr). All levels require a high school diploma or equivalent, including coursework in algebra, geometry, or trigonometry. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of project inspection and testing procedures, including site features and materials. Understanding of general construction engineering principles and laboratory testing procedures. Familiarity with State, AASHTO, FHWA, and ASTM standards and specifications. Experience with surveying and highway construction methods and operations. Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds and operate equipment on rough terrain. Strong documentation and reporting skills.
