Material Handler

Material Handling Supervisor

Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Material Handling Supervisor for our client based out of Macungie, PA.

This assignment is anticipated to be a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment. This will also have a first-shift Monday–Friday schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily material handling operations to ensure the safe, accurate, and timely movement of materials throughout the facility.
• Oversee inventory control, receiving, storage, shipping, material replenishment, and production support activities.
• Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer requirements while maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Supervise and develop a team of material handling associates through coaching, training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Establish daily priorities and allocate resources to meet operational objectives.
• Monitor operational metrics and utilize data to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost performance.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Identify operational risks and proactively resolve issues before they impact production or customer commitments.
• Maintain effective communication across departments, shifts, and leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution of priorities.
• Implement and sustain standardized processes and best practices across material handling operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, efficiency gains, and waste reduction.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, logistics, inventory control, or supply chain supervision.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or production environment.
• Experience managing receiving, shipping, inventory control, and material flow operations.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes, inventory management, and production support activities.
• Proven ability to lead teams, develop employees, and drive operational performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience utilizing operational metrics and KPI reporting to drive improvements.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Logistics, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience with ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
• Experience supporting multi-shift operations.
