Youth Program Facilitator

Community Facilitator

In partnership with various community initiatives, CHD provides comprehensive programs that assist young people in developing social and emotional skills, such as learning how to control their emotions and resolve conflicts. The facilitator plans, implements, and directs age-appropriate, engaging activities for a group of school-aged participants in assigned schools or other community venues. Program implementation could involve the development and coordination of activities and meetings with a participant's family. The curriculum may be modified to promote the goals of the specific organization, and the hours and length of programs may vary in accordance with the applicable program requirements. In addition to planning and attending community-based events, the Facilitator performs program administration tasks, such as keeping a record of daily attendance and preparing program reports.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

• Instruct participants in age-appropriate curriculum.
• Foster self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction.
• Maintain daily attendance records and related documentation, as assigned.
• Observe professional lines of communication at all times and maintain confidential information about children, families or staff and do not discuss personal information in front of others.
• Attend on-going trainings and scheduled meetings.
• Plan and attend community events, as assigned.
• Participate in on-going curriculum development.
• Assist in the development and implementation of tools to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and projects.
• Exhibit and practice courtesy, respect, and professional judgment in dealings with all participants, parents, colleagues, school administration, program leaders and staff, as well as other community leaders.
• Perform other duties and prepare reports as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Training:

• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
• At least one year related experience required, preferably working with youth development, public schools, and/or community services in urban areas.
• At least one year experience in presenting workshops or other formal presentations preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with school-aged students in both small and large group settings.
• Ability to work well with participants, families, teachers, community leaders, and other agencies.
• Strongly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Certification and Licensure Requirements:

• Valid Nebraska driver's license with satisfactory driving record required.
• Criminal background and child abuse clearances are required.
• Drug testing required.
