The role prioritizes safety and comfort for pets while delivering high‑level customer service to pet parents. Essential Job Functions Perform grooming services according to pet parent instructions and breed standards. Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers. Prioritize pet welfare, monitor for discomfort or illness, and report concerns. Assess individual pet needs based on coat type, skin conditions, and temperament. Responsibilities Interact professionally with pet parents, answer inquiries, and provide grooming recommendations. Educate pet owners on maintenance and at‑home care to promote pet well‑being. Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, disinfecting tools and adhering to hygiene policies. Use grooming policies and standards to ensure safety, quality, and consistency. Assist in training and supervising entry‑level trainees when necessary. Education and Experience Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or prior experience as a professional groomer, or completion of a technical grooming training program. High‑school diploma or GED preferred. Independent judgement, problem‑solving skills, productivity orientation, and ownership of role. Attention to detail with accurate execution of grooming services. Passion for animals and commitment to a grooming career. Expert knowledge of breeds, grooming requirements, health issues, and behaviors. Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts and styling techniques. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy. Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required. Work Environment Jobs are conducted indoors in a grooming salon, involving bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Tasks may require use of ladders or vacuum equipment. The environment is dry, occasionally wet, and can be noisy. Salary Range Salary: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour (actual rates depend on experience, location, and state wage laws).
