Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery

Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery Nights – Full Time Olathe Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide patient care and coordinate interdisciplinary approaches in the Labor & Delivery unit during nighttime shifts. The RN will deliver holistic, systematic, and therapeutic care, integrating knowledge, skills, and experience to meet the needs of patients, families, and the continuum of care. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Adhere to hospital policies related to medication safety, including order writing format, correct administration considerations, double checks, and other established procedures. Answer patient and significant other phone calls, evaluate patient needs, and triage patient care. Anticipate and intervene in a timely manner to address concerns related to patient and staff safety. Consistently meet work schedule and role‑model individualized therapeutic communication based on patient and family psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs. Coordinate health care services with hospital vendors, physician’s offices, and other institutions. Delegate appropriately according to task situation, level of expertise and function as an independent and supportive team member. Lead initiatives to build and maintain an environment where all team members thrive. Utilize critical thinking throughout all aspects of the nursing process. Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans that recognize changes in the patient’s condition and adapt the plan as needed. Identify opportunities for professional growth and independently perform comprehensive assessments to provide effective patient care. Maintain a safe environment for patients, performing nursing assessments and triage for new and ongoing patients. Provide direct nursing care for specified patients, including supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed. Educate patient and family using available resources. Seek additional learning experiences within the practice area, including unit‑specific certifications, consultation with experts, in‑services/rounds, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilize technology correctly for functions related to patient care delivery, mandatory programs/competencies, and policies/procedures. Required Education and Experience High School Graduate. Associate Degree in Nursing. Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) – Single State (Kansas) or compact license. CPR / AED / BLS certification; other BLS within 14 days of hire. Additional unit‑specific certifications or experience may be required in certain units. Other duties may be assigned as required.
