Description:
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will work with students with disabilities under the direction and supervision of certified personnel.
The goal is to assist students in reaching their objectives as indicated in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities include implementing IEP goals.
Assisting in small group instruction and one-on-one instruction as needed.
Maintaining appropriate data and records in collaboration with teachers and therapists.
Supporting the ongoing implementation of skills and goals associated with students' needs in occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and physical therapy.
Carrying out and maintaining computer skills and communication devices for students.
Implementing equipment, sensory, mobility, behavior plans, and self-care plans according to students' needs.
The physical ability to assist in lifting students for positioning, changing, and toileting is essential.


Requirements include the ability to demonstrate sound decision-making capabilities consistent with school policies and procedures.
Following instructions provided by school administrators and assigned staff is necessary.
Familiarity with established rules and regulations governing the education of students, including those with disabilities, is important.
Providing direct academic, behavioral, and self-help support to students in both regular and special education classrooms is required.
Maintaining files of learning materials using current technology is necessary.
The ability to lift, transfer, feed, and toilet students, when necessary, is essential.
Integrating student IEP goals into daily curriculum is required.
Maintaining confidentiality is crucial.
Mobility and agility are required, as well as keeping all certification requirements current.


Qualifications include a valid Paraprofessional Certification.
Documentation of a clear BCI/FBI report is required.
Any alternatives to these qualifications will be determined by the appropriate authorities.
