Utility Technician

The Role In this role, you will be responsible for independently performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility and manufacturing equipment during the evening shift in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong technical background, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a proactive approach to supporting production operations while ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Here’s What You’ll Do Independently perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing, utility, and facility equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with critical process equipment in real time to minimize downtime. Execute work orders and document maintenance activities in Maximo. Support equipment calibration, validation, and commissioning as needed. Provide first-line troubleshooting and resolution for production-critical systems and escalate complex issues when necessary. Oversee and perform repairs and maintenance tasks. Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption to operations. Develop and implement maintenance procedures and protocols to optimize the performance and lifespan of facility systems. Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring availability when needed. Train and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team. Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time. Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications) High school diploma or GED required; Technical Certification or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications) Military training equivalent of above is acceptable. Previous experience in a cGMP environment is a plus. Familiarity with documentation practices used in a GMP environment is preferred. Experience documenting work in a CMMS (MAXIMO) preferable. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members and stakeholders. Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor. In-depth knowledge of various facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance.
