The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a solid understanding of financial statements, and excellent written and verbal communication. The Business Support Analyst provides critical operational, analytical, and administrative support to the business lending team. This role is responsible for assisting in the preparation, processing, and monitoring of business loans, as well as supporting credit analysis, compliance checks, and member service functions. What You Will Do: Assist in opening business accounts, and responding to member inquiries related to loans, accounts and transactions. Review and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements), tax returns, business plans, and budgets to determine borrower creditworthiness. Review real estate appraisals to verify valuation accuracy, regulatory compliance (USPAP, FIRREA), and alignment with loan terms. Identify and evaluate key risks such as industry risks, market conditions, management quality, business sustainability, and repayment capacity. Obtain and review credit bureau reports, bank references, trade payment history, and other third-party data to verify the guarantor financial integrity and repayment history. Develop well-structured credit memos outlining background, financial condition, loan purpose, risk assessment, collateral valuation, and recommended loan terms. Provide clear recommendations regarding loan approval, terms, and conditions based on risk analysis and credit union policy guidelines. Ensure all lending activities comply with credit union policies, NCUA regulations, and industry best practices; assist with internal and external audits. Stay informed on economic trends, competitive landscape, and sector-specific risks that could impact loan performance and portfolio risk. Participate in the review and enhancement of credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk assessment models to improve lending quality and efficiency. What You Will Need: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience in financial services). 1–3 years of experience in commercial/business lending support, preferably in a credit union. Experience working with SBA loan programs or government-guaranteed lending. Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow evaluation, and credit risk assessment.
