Speech Language Pathologist
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Duluth Edison Charter Schools (DECS) is committed to academic and personal excellence for every student. With an understanding of what it means to be a lifelong learner, the SLP will participate in ongoing professional development goal setting, learning and reflection in each school year. The Speech Language Pathologist will work as a team member in the assigned house team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide research-based speech and language services identified on the individualized education programs (IEPs) of students with disabilities.
- Provide speech and language services in a variety of service delivery models.
- Comply with all state and federal special education rules and regulations.
- Schedule and hold IEP meetings within required timelines.
- Facilitate IEP meetings.
- Collaborate with Special Education Lead and/or Special Education Coordinator and IEP members to develop IEPs.
- Complete IEPs and progress notes in a timely manner.
- Assess students' communication skills (articulation, fluency, voice, expressive, and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.
- Instruct assigned support staff for the purpose of providing information related to students IEP goals and/or accommodations.
- Maintain records and billing in a manner consistent that complies with any regulatory requirements and is consistent with district practices.
- Collaborate with house teams.
- Create and work toward ongoing communication with parents in a variety of forms.
- Implement school and district policies and procedures.
- Create and manage a PBIS based learning environment that enables students to feel safe, be creative, and develop excellence.
- Model the behaviors expected of the students.
- Implement and teach the core values established by our school as the focus of instruction and discussion when appropriate.
- Write, implement, and evaluate his or her own professional development plans.
- Attend house and staff meetings.
- Participate in assigned student learning conferences.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minnesota Board of Teaching license required. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
