Player/coach role leading the floor of a fast-scaling industrial fabrication platform.

THE ROLE

\n

Run the floor of a pod-based industrial fabrication platform serving large national clients. From the shop floor to the customer call to the cost report — you own production execution, end to end.

\n

\n

\n

ABOUT MOUNTAIN OFF-ROAD / DSM

Mountain Off-Road / DSM is a precision steel fabrication and CNC machining platform in Delta, Colorado. Our work spans:

\n

•     Architectural cladding for national transit programs

\n

•     AWS D1.1 structural steel for utility-scale infrastructure

\n

•     Stainless production cells for OEM clients

\n

•     Aftermarket consumer products

\n

\n

We're scaling. In the last twelve months we've signed multi-year programs with national clients, launched a dedicated stainless production cell, and stood up the first formal pod operating model in our shop's history. This isn't a maintenance shop.

\n

\n

\n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\n

Production & Delivery Execution

\n

•     Own and manage the production schedule across all pods to meet customer deadlines and maximize throughput

\n

•     Prioritize work, allocate labor, and adjust schedules in real time based on constraints and exceptions

\n

•     Ensure all jobs ship on time, on budget, and to specification

\n

\n

Technical & Customer Support

\n

•     Review drawings, specifications, and RFQs for manufacturability and cost implications

\n

•     Provide technical input to sales and customers on design, materials, and fabrication methods

\n

•     Support quoting with accurate routings, labor estimates, and material requirements

\n

\n

Quality & Continuous Improvement

\n

•     Establish and enforce quality checkpoints throughout fabrication processes

\n

•     Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects or rework

\n

•     Drive continuous improvement using Lean principles

\n

\n

Safety & Compliance

\n

•     Champion a safety-first culture and lead by example on the shop floor

\n

•     Empower employees to stop work when unsafe conditions exist

\n

\n

Equipment, Materials & Cost Control

\n

•     Ensure all equipment is maintained, operational, and reliable

\n

•     Monitor job costs, labor hours, and productivity — take action to stay on target

\n

\n

Team Leadership & Development

\n

•     Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, cross-trained team across pods

\n

•     Minimum 2-deep capability on critical skills where possible

\n

•     Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

\n

\n

\n

GROWTH PATH

\n

•     First 90 days: Own the production schedule and weekly cadence. Establish the operating rhythm — standups, exceptions, KPI reporting.

\n

•     6 months: Cross-pod throughput is yours. Anchor program shipping clean, pod leads accountable to you.

\n

•     12 months: Production runs predictably. Lean checkpoints standing, on-time delivery targets hit.

\n

•      Beyond: Director of Operations as the platform scales.

\n

\n

\n

REQUIRED

\n

•     5+ years experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing leadership

\n

•     Strong understanding of fabrication processes — cutting, forming, welding, assembly

\n

•     Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and customer specifications

\n

•     Experience with production scheduling, job costing, and workflow optimization

\n

•     Hands-on problem solver — works strategically and tactically

\n

•     Ability to relocate to Delta, CO 81416 before starting work

\n

\n

\n

PREFERRED

\n

•     10+ years manufacturing leadership in a fabrication or job-shop environment

\n

•     Lean manufacturing — practical application over theory

\n

•     Pod- or cell-based production leadership

\n

•     ERP / shop floor systems and KPI dashboard experience

\n

•     Customer-facing experience — quoting, technical reviews, account management

\n

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

•     $70,000 – $85,000/year based on experience

\n
