Job Summary

The Medical Assistant II is an experienced clinical role that demonstrates expanded scope and increased independence in managing daily clinical workflows. Operating under the supervision of a licensed provider, this role serves as a key clinical team member within an assigned service line, supporting efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care. Medical Assistants at this level have established reliability in foundational responsibilities and are trained to perform additional clinical interventions under provider direction or established protocols.The Medical Assistant II is an experienced clinical role that demonstrates expanded scope and increased independence in managing daily clinical workflows. Responsibilities

• Assist providers with non-invasive clinical tasks, including obtaining vital signs and preparing patients for examination.
• Perform patient intake, including vital signs, screenings, and documentation.
• Assist providers with clinical procedures such as wound care, suture removal, EKGs, joint injections, phlebotomy, and specialty-specific tasks.
• Administer medications and vaccines in accordance with organizational policy.
• Perform patient care duties, including reporting test results, phone triage, and documenting medical information as directed by licensed personnel or providers.
• Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms to ensure readiness for patient visits.
• Conduct patient outreach to support care gap closure and follow-up activities.
• Support patient education related to medications and care plans.
• Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record.
• Support clinic workflow by maintaining organized daily logs and assigned tasks.
• Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to patients and care team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Adhere to applicable regulatory guidelines and laws, including but not limited to HIPAA/HITECH, CLIA, HRSA and OSHA/Blood-Borne Pathogens regulations and standards.

• Ability to work and function independently and within a team.

• Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office Software.

Role Specific Essential Skills/Competencies

• Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques.
• Proficiency in medical record systems and basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent patient service.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Critical thinking skills for analyzing and resolving clinical and administrative challenges.
• Ability to perform care according to age-specific competencies.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a medical practice setting required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate required.
• Bilingual ability in English and either Spanish or Marshallese required.
• Medication administration experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Community Health or FQHC setting preferred.
• Women's Health experience (OBGYN) experience preferred.
