General Information Cape Henlopen High School Girls Soccer Head Coach General Description The Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing the team, as well as organizing and implementing game/practice plans that will foster a positive and competitive environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the sport. Minimum Qualification A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Advanced education above high school is preferred. Essential Responsibilities Team Leadership and Development: Develop and implement in-season and off-season training programs to enhance player performance. Provide mentorship and support to players, fostering their physical, mental, and emotional development. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback. Game Strategy and Planning: Analyze opponents and develop game plans and strategies to maximize team performance. Make real-time decisions during games to adapt strategies as needed. Lead meetings/practices to review performance and plan future games. Team Management: Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to ensure cohesive team operations. Oversee the selection of players. Ensure all players adhere to team rules, policies, and standards. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open lines of communication with players, coaching staff, and families. Represent the team in public events and community engagements. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture. All coaches and staff must use district email and district electronic communication systems. Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze team and player performance metrics.Implement changes and improvements based on performance statistics.Set performance goals and benchmarks for the team. Administrative Duties: Report to the Athletic Department the team's schedule which includes practices and games. Work with the Athletic Department on travel arrangements to away contests. Ensure compliance with DIAA rules and regulations. Professional Responsibilities Able to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships. Willingness to accept guidance and suggestions. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to maintain confidentiality. Continue professional growth and development through opportunities provided by CHSD and DIAA. Able to work with other cultures represented in the community. Competencies Success in this position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge: Must have knowledge of DIAA rules and regulations. Must complete training regarding Title IX and Athletics. Must complete Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Concussion Training every two years. Must be familiar with Cape Henlopen School District's Policy 118 (Prohibited Actions of Employees) & Policy 551 (Electronic Communication & Social Media Policy). Must have experience and a detailed knowledge of online systems such as Recruiting and Hiring and Google Docs. Must possess online, digital skills to maintain records and to complete evaluations of coaching staff. Coordination & Flexibility – Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions, and an openness to accepting new assignments and duties. Planning and organization - Coordinating schedules in a timely and efficient manner. Abilities: Interpersonal Relationships – Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with students and staff, and maintaining them over time. Oral comprehension – Able to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
