Job Description:Lab ChemistHuntsman is seeking a Lab Chemist supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in HATC. This position will report to the Technical Services Lab Manager.Job ScopeThe Lab Chemist supports the development, optimization, testing, and commercialization of Huntsman Advanced Materials products. This role is responsible for conducting laboratory research and testing, developing and evaluating formulations, analyzing experimental data, and preparing technical documentation to support product innovation, product qualification, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with technical, manufacturing, and commercial teams to deliver high-quality solutions and advance Huntsman's product portfolio.In summary, as the Lab Chemist, you will:Conduct laboratory testing and characterization of epoxy systems, polyurethane systems, adhesives, composites, coatings, and electrical insulation materials.Develop, prepare, and evaluate formulations, blends, and experimental samples for product development and application testing.Perform physical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing using ASTM, ISO, customer-specific, and internal methods.Collect, analyze, interpret, and document experimental data and communicate results through technical reports and presentations.Maintain laboratory notebooks, databases, and technical documentation in accordance with company standards.Conduct technical research, literature reviews, and benchmarking studies to support new product development and continuous improvement activities.Support manufacturing trials, process development activities, and product scale-up evaluations.Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.Participate in root cause investigations and technical problem-solving activities.Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards, laboratory practices, and regulatory requirements.QualificationsYou must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.Minimum QualificationsAssociate degree or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.2+ years of laboratory experience supporting product development, formulation development, materials testing, or related technical activities.Experience performing laboratory testing and characterization using ASTM and ISO test methods.Demonstrated ability to analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports.Skills and KnowledgeStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies and material characterization techniques.Understanding of thermoset chemistry and formulation principles.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with technical, manufacturing, and commercial teams.Strong organizational and project management skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project timelines.Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.Experience working with thermoset polymers, including epoxy systems, polyurethane systems, adhesives, coatings, composites, or electrical insulation materials.Experience with formulation development, product evaluation, and application testing.Experience with thermal analysis, mechanical testing, and material characterization techniques.Experience supporting manufacturing trials, process development, or product scale-up activities.Experience working in a research, product development, or technical service laboratory environment.Working EnvironmentWork is primarily performed in a laboratory environment supporting product development and testing activities.Requires frequent use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and testing systems.Must comply with all Huntsman Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements and applicable laboratory safety protocols.May require handling chemicals and materials while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Huntsman is proud to promote equal opportunity in the workplace All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
