Senior Accountant

Industry Academia, college in Boston, about 2500 employees, 6 in Accounting Hours M-F 8:45am-4:45pm (35 hours per week) Location Boston (remote until August 17th, however it is hybrid long term - Tuesday & Wednesday in the office - current expectation is 2 days in the office, but it might increase to 3 - right downtown so close to Park Street, Downtown Crossing and Government Center T stops) Background Check CORI, SORI & county criminal Reason for Opening Turnover Must Haves 3+ years of reconciliations and GL accounting Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, able to work with large sets of data) Preferred Academia or non-profit industry Gift and endowment accounting (this is a big part of the job) Workday Senior Accountant These are the criteria we require: 3+ years of experience in financial operations Academia or non-profit experience a plus Workday or large ERP system experience preferred Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills; with high attention to detail and deadlines Comfortable working with large data sets Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; especially Excel with experience in using pivot tables and vlookups Ability to prepare account reconciliations and proactively resolve differences; understanding prepaid expenses and deferred revenue Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, deadline oriented department Specific Tasks Prepare prepaid expenses, misc. receivables, deferred revenue and other balance sheet account reconciliations, as needed Reconcile gift awards to budget and determine amounts that will be paid in FY27 Create accounting adjustments and reclass journal entries related to gifts, student groups Research endowed gifts with unspent budget and determine if there are expenses to use to apply to the gift Provide support and assistance to the Controller in preparing schedules for the year‑end external audit; setting up reconciliation spreadsheets and online folders for FY27 #J-18808-Ljbffr The Planet Group
