Job Summary:
A Neuro Surgical Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Newburgh, Indiana. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to neuro and neuro-surgical patients within a 37-bed unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position demands strong assessment and critical thinking skills, extensive neuro assessment experience, and proficiency with electronic medical records. The job involves 12-hour day shifts, and candidates must be available to work every other holiday.

Job Details:

• Location: Newburgh, Indiana
• Specialty: Medical Surgical Neurology Floor
• Schedule: 12 hours shifts, days, from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, Associate Degree or Certificate. A minimum of two years of strong neuro experience, including trauma level II experience and one travel assignment. Recent EPIC electronic medical record experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with neuro assessments such as NIHSS, dysphagia screening, telemetry interpretation, and management of neuro patients with CVAs, postoperative neuro surgeries, cerebral angiograms, and general medical and psychiatric conditions.
• Additional Information: Must have a current active compact license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Every other holiday work is required. This unit emphasizes excellent leadership and team support, with a resilient and adaptable staff.
• Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Potential to float between nearby campuses with a 2-hour notice.
• On Call/Call Back Requirement: Not applicable.
• Unit Information: 37 beds with day staffing ratios of 1:5-6.
• Certifications: AHA BLS, NIHSS.
