Utility Billing Account Representative

Application Deadline Application must be received by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Position Utility Billing Account Representative. The City of Auburn Finance Department seeks a front‑facing representative to perform accounting, clerical, and customer service tasks for utility billing. Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch. Responsibilities Explain special billing and service programs to customers (e.g., winter averaging, low‑income assistance, solid waste/recycling programs) and determine eligibility as per guidelines. Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system. Perform cashiering duties for utility payments, miscellaneous accounts receivable, and document transactions and adjusting journal entries. Open and close accounts for city utilities, request, verify, and change information as needed. Qualifications Graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting or equivalent. Two years closely related work experience, or a combination of education, experience, and training that would indicate the ability to accomplish the primary functions above. Excellent time‑management and ability to prioritize workloads. Office experience in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Strong customer‑service background. Municipal experience. Utility billing experience. College coursework in accounting or similar field. Experience using Springbrook. Benefits Competitive salary.
