Job Description Summary The Secure Solutions Group within the Systems Engineering Directorate is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support concept, architecture, and requirement development of trustworthy secure platforms. The group offers multidisciplinary proficiencies in secure systems architecture, hardware security, software security, system validation and accreditation, and cryptography. Duties/Responsibilities Work with cross‑disciplinary teams of system, hardware, and software engineers to support program execution. Communicate with program members, offices, and sponsors to present work to the technical and evaluation community. Bring a systems engineering perspective to support development of system architectures for secure solutions. Support analysis of Draper, customer, and sponsor‑developed systems to evaluate effectiveness and suitability. Independent execution of system engineering lifecycle assignments. Adapt to changes in program priorities and requirements. Adhere to existing best practices and Quality Management System processes. Expand technical depth through formal and informal learning. Work within multidisciplinary teams and deliver assignments independently. Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction. Lead small teams and align them toward program goals. Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes. Identify program and system‑level technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities Highly organized, system‑level perspective. Strong oral and written communication skills. Practical experience with simulation‑based performance analysis. Practical experience with the systems engineering process. Proficiency with modeling and simulation, computer coding, descriptive modeling (e.g., SysML), STPA, or other engineering analysis tools. Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber/security, communications/encryption, threat modeling, or other technologies. Additional Job Responsibilities Independently derive system‑level requirements based on mission requirements and define plans to solve complex problems. Act as subject‑matter expert to develop and implement security approaches through a program lifecycle. Generate technical reports and presentations for external audiences. Familiar with writing proposals to commercial and government sponsors. Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field. Master's degree or higher preferred. Experience 5–10 years experience as a systems engineer or related role.
