A better future?Job DescriptionENGINEERING MANAGERROSCOMMON, MI – ROSCOMMON PLANTThe Role:Your work will include, but not be limited to:Perform engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing productionExamine equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions, and suggests improvementsEvaluate vendor and supplier proposals for new equipment purchasesOversee the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities such as downtime and change analysis and procedure developmentDirect, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned engineering operations and functionsAssign work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and proceduresOversee and participate in performing a broad range of design activities on a variety of projects including automated equipment, storm drainage facilities, lighting, landscaping, water production and distribution facilities, and buildingsDevelop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standardsAnalyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyReview design conformance and accuracy of plans to coordinate improvement projects with staff, project managers, contractors, utility companies and other agenciesConfer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.Oversee facilities and equipment preventative maintenance and repair responsibilitiesLiaison to corporate engineering resourcesCreate and manage technical budgetsEnsure that role-driven operational key performance indicator (KPI) targets are met, including mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) and mean-time-to-repair (MTTR)All other duties as assigned Examples of Work PerformedDrive Company StandardsDevelop, implement, and maintain corporate standardsProcess, Labor, and efficiency(MOST) Maynard Operation Sequence TechniqueLine balancingProduct Launch and Project ImplementationDrive cross functional engagement.Track spendingSchedule and execute engineering tasks to meet launch milestonesAdvanced Program ReadinessTeam member with AME to conduct initial labor assessmentTeam Member with Materials to develop material process flowLead of PFMEADesign for manufacturing and drive closure of build issuesOperational strategy, capacity analysis, and equipment needsTimeline and critical path planningSpending forecastingDrive corporate standardsIdentify idle assets within Lear globally for reuseAttend design reviews and runoff of equipmentImplement and Improve equipment functionalityPush new standards up in organization based on lessons learnedBasic understanding of controls, PLC, Sensors, controls communicationsQualityReduce frequency occurrenceIncrease detectionFollowing fastening strategy standardSupport Company GrowthSupport technical reviews with customersProvide Inputs to develop cost models - capital, tooling, labor, & start upSeek out new manufacturing strategies to improve quality and efficienciesQualificationsYour Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution5+ years working in the Engineering functionExperience in a manufacturing environmentEffective oral and written communication skills Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of engineering Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act Administration), and NEC (National Electric Code), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Act). Knowledge of Electrical Engineering in order to understand system interactions, sizing of equipment, and fuses Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software, ladder logic Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent - Ability to modify and develop 2D layouts Skill in using basic hand tools, and torque calibration tools Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment."Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Critical path management- Launch scheduling for Engineering disciplinesKnowledge of Project ManagementAbility to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.Ability to work with or contribute to a work group or team to complete assigned task(s).Bonus if you have:MOST labor standard methodology- Ability to develop and modify current labor standards-Line balancingFastening strategy- Atlas Copco Tools Talk softwareKnowledge Quality Systems on Automotive industry quality system requirements (i.e. IATF16949, ISO 14001)MVPOne or equivalent Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experienceResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate assigned functions and programs within the Engineering and Maintenance Departments to include planning, process and equipment development. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for setting goals, establishing priorities, managing resources, developing concepts and approaches, and reviewing projects progress and results.
