Position Summary:

This is a hands-on technical leadership position for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys both electrical design and project leadership. The successful candidate will manage projects from concept through construction administration, serve as Engineer of Record when required, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with clients, architects, contractors, and internal MEP teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design for commercial, multifamily residential, institutional, mixed-use, and industrial projects
• Develop and oversee construction documents utilizing Revit and AutoCAD workflows
• Perform electrical engineering calculations, load studies, equipment sizing, and power distribution design
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and sign/seal drawings when required
• Review and approve electrical designs prepared by other team members
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and client expectations throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Plumbing, Architectural, and Structural teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, construction administration activities, and project meetings
• Review RFIs, submittals, permitting comments, and construction documentation
• Ensure projects comply with applicable Florida Building Codes, NEC, NFPA, and industry standards
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior and mid-level engineers and designers
• Contribute to quality control processes and technical excellence initiatives within the department

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Ability to obtain or transfer PE licensure to Florida if currently licensed in another state
• 6+ years of MEP consulting experience
• Strong experience designing building electrical systems from concept through construction
• Previous Engineer of Record (EOR) experience with sign-and-seal responsibilities
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience with power distribution, lighting systems, emergency power systems, load calculations, and electrical infrastructure design
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles for building systems
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Florida PE License
• 10+ years of MEP consulting experience
• Experience reviewing and approving designs prepared by other engineers
• Familiarity with commercial, multifamily, institutional, mixed-use, healthcare, hospitality, and industrial projects
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong knowledge of Florida Building Codes, NEC, NFPA, and permitting requirements
