Pay Rate: $10.98 plus gratuity

Hours/Days: 25 - 30 hours. Sunday through Saturday. 2 days off. No overtime.

1+ year experience in a fast-paced environment.

SUMMARY OF THE MAIN FUNCTION/PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Barback / Oyster Shucker is responsible for supporting bartenders and the raw bar by ensuring bar areas are fully stocked, clean, and operating efficiently while also safely and consistently shucking oysters to company standards. This position plays a key role in beverage speed, raw bar quality, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction.

KEY PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all bar and raw bar areas
• Restock liquor, beer, wine, ice, glassware, and bar supplies throughout service
• Safely and efficiently shuck oysters following company presentation and food safety standards
• Properly handle, store, rotate, and ice oysters and raw bar products
• Prepare and replenish garnishes for both bar and raw bar service
• Assist bartenders during high-volume service to ensure smooth beverage flow
• Follow all alcohol service laws, food safety regulations, and sanitation procedures
• Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff to support service flow
• Assist with opening and closing duties for the bar and raw bar
• Deep clean bar equipment, raw bar tools, coolers, and storage areas
• Assist with beverage and raw bar inventory counts and receiving deliveries
• Support special events, beach service, or tiki deck operations as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility and works under the direction of bartenders and management.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous restaurant, bussing, or raw bar experience preferred but not required.

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT:

• Oyster knives, gloves, raw bar tools, and ice bins
• Ice machines, glass washers, bar tools, and beverage storage equipment
• Cleaning and sanitation equipment
• Basic understanding of bar operations and raw bar service flow
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Requires standing/walking/bending throughout the shift and the ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.
• Ability to walk on varying terrain, including hard floors, tile, and sand for multiple hours, as well as perform in a hot and humid environment.
• Responsible for maintaining hydration at all times.
• Walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This position requires a varying work environment ranging from office settings with normally moderate noise levels to work outdoors with environments that can be very hot and humid.
• Sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended, and comfortable footwear is encouraged.
• Varied weather conditions are expected.
• Will work near moving or mechanical parts.
• Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
• Each employee is responsible to maintain hydration at all times.
