Warehouse AssociateThe Warehouse Associate is responsible for overseeing the handling, storage, and distribution of materials and inventory for projects at the Ascend Automation and Controls shop in Katy. This role involves processing, organizing, and maintaining inventory, as well as receiving materials from vendors and registering them in the corporate system Deltek. Additionally, the Warehouse Assistant will package, scan, and prepare orders for delivery, fulfill material requests from operations, and maintain accurate records of all movements within the warehouse.Skills RequiredInventory Management: Proficient in tracking inventory levels, conducting audits, and initiating orders as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to accurately inspect incoming materials against purchase orders, assemble material kits, and prepare shipments with precision.Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with vendors, colleagues, and other departments, and to document and report inventory-related information.Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness in warehouse and yard areas.Problem-solving: Ability to identify and address issues promptly, such as discrepancies in material quality or quantity, and to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve them efficiently.Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.Safety Awareness: Knowledgeable about safety protocols and procedures, with a strong commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and promoting a culture of safety in the workplace.Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using inventory management systems, barcode scanners, and other technology tools to track inventory, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.Physical Stamina: Able to lift heavy objects safely, withstand long periods of standing, bending, and walking, and operate heavy machinery such as forklifts with precision and caution.Team Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to achieve common goals and ensure efficient warehouse operationsEducation, Experience & CertificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentValid driver’s licenseShould demonstrate being responsible, accountable, methodic, and tidy.Should be used to work self-paced and based on weekly and quarterly plans.Forklift operation Certification desirable.Knowledge and experience in heavy loads handling.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTrack consumable inventoryRequest consumable inventory orderLoad and unload materialsReceiving of materials (Check material against PO)Verify material in warehouse according to projectNotify purchasing lead of non-conformance materialAssemble Material kits as requested by manufacturingTransfer kits to shopTransfer material from Inventory to assembly/shippingShipping preparationPictures before shippingBill of LadingComplete customer hard copy data booksContact vendor about non-conformance materialContact dumpster/recycling companyHandle material recs from shop and provide to PurchasingReceive and process incoming stock and materialsPick and file orders from stockPackage and ship ordersManage, organize and retrieve stock in the warehouseManage material in the yardKeep the areas of the materials clean and well organized.Keep the warehouses closed to keep the materials safe.Keep track of loose materials and wires that are cut by the foot.Operate heavy machinery like forklifts to load and unload materialsVerify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipmentsFollow all safety protocol and warehouse proceduresPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday.Ability to safely load, unload, move, and stage materials in warehouse and yard environments.Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and effectively.Ability to perform inventory, packaging, shipping, and receiving tasks requiring repetitive hand movements and attention to detail.Ability to wear required PPE and work in warehouse, shop, and outdoor environments with exposure to varying temperatures.Ability to work overtime as needed to support operational and project requirements.Note: The above information is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by persons assigned to this job.
