Benefits effective 31 days from date of hire Wellness programs Retirement savings program Professional development and continuing education opportunities PTO accrual begins day one Employee assistance programs (EAP) Job Summary Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager, produce quality diagnostic medical radiographs, including OR, Fluoro, Dexa, or EOS, to ensure proper diagnosis and quality patient care. Job Responsibilities Produce quality images using appropriate exposure technique to ensure proper penetration of the area being radiographed. Use and place metal markers or employ electronic marker placement. Document an appropriate patient history containing pertinent patient information regarding their condition and including patient limitations. Verify physician orders prior to the start of the exam. Perform OR/Surgery cases using C‑arms and portable machines efficiently. Supervise and teach Radiology student exams and procedures as part of their clinical rotation, providing feedback to the Clinical Educator on performance. Communicate technical information appropriately to patients, co‑workers, and other stakeholders. Respond to changes in the workload, using time to departmental advantage. Observe established departmental policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Adhere to hospital safety and infection control policies. Report faulty equipment to appropriate persons. Use protective equipment as needed and practice radiation safety for patients, self, and co‑workers. Wear radiation dosimetry badge daily. Attend departmental in‑services and meetings as instructed by Manager. Attend appropriate orientations and required in‑services. Attend departmental meetings or review minutes sent through the MOX system in Meditech. Review education poster boards located in the department. Perform other duties as appropriate and needed by supervisors. Demonstrate attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working in all areas of the hospital. Display initiative and enthusiasm for non‑routine or extra duties. Seek out duties that need to be done without being told to. Practice universal precautions and dispose of hazardous wastes per established guidelines. Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families/employees in accordance with hospital standards. Keep conversations and background noise to a minimum. Adhere to dress code and report risk management concerns. Complete all annual mandatory safety, fire, blood bony pathogen, hazardous communication, TB, department specific, age appropriate care, HIPAA, and assigned EDU courses. Ensure proper patient identification using armband or two unique identifiers. Work in a constant state of alertness and safety. Participate in continuing education: obtain 24 CE points every 2 years per ASRT regulation and maintain a good standing rating with the ASRT. Follow the Target 100 Standards, providing service excellence to the customers of Saint Louis University Hospital by delivering timely, high quality care in a courteous, and respectful manner. Demonstrate respect and compassion to internal and external customers, co‑workers, and all others while delivering excellent care and courteous service. Follow the hospital confidentiality policy and HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information. Answer questions in a knowledgeable manner or direct questions to someone who can provide answers. Incorporate Quality Improvement into one’s daily work: review departmental QI, QA, & QC monthly, provide data/input to management, use the Radiology information system according to policy, and enter information into the Radiology module correctly and timely. Provide age‑appropriate care for patients across all age groups. Job Specifications Minimum Education: Graduate of a Radiology Technology program and registry eligible. Minimum Experience: Two years Radiology Technology experience preferred. Required Course: BLS Working Conditions: Exposure to blood and body fluid, exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biological hazards; subject to varying or unpredictable situations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift, push, and pull 100+ pounds, move or transfer patients, and manage daily strenuous activity with radiographic equipment and supplies.
