CDL Driver / Equipment Operator

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Delivery & Field Operations Responsibilities (DOT-Compliant)

• Perform daily deliveries across designated service areas, including but not limited to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas:
  Transport materials, equipment, and finished products safely and efficiently to job sites. Plan and execute routes in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) requirements.
• Load and unload materials as required: Safely load and unload materials, equipment, and products at the warehouse and job sites. This includes manual handling of materials when equipment is not available, ensuring proper lifting techniques and adherence to safety standards to prevent injury or damage.
• Operate panel machines on-site to support field production needs:
  Set up and run panel machines at job sites to fabricate metal panels according to specifications. Ensure accuracy, maintain quality standards, and follow all safety procedures.
• Safely operate and haul a truck and trailer combination in accordance with DOT regulations:
  Drive and maneuver company vehicles, including truck/trailer combinations, in a safe and professional manner. Maintain situational awareness in various driving and job site conditions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure loads are properly secured:
  Perform required DOT vehicle inspections (DVIR) and verify that all loads are properly distributed and secured using approved methods to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Maintain accurate logs and compliance documentation:
  Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT and company requirements. Report any issues, delays, or safety concerns promptly.
• Adhere to scheduled delivery times and maintain punctuality:
  Ensure timely arrivals and departures while balancing operational efficiency with DOT compliance. Communicate proactively regarding delays or schedule changes.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies:
  Follow all DOT and OSHA standards, including the use of PPE, safe driving practices, and proper material handling procedures.

CDL Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred (Class A based on vehicle requirements)
• Must maintain a clean driving record in accordance with company and insurance guidelines.
• Ability to meet and maintain DOT medical certification (DOT physical).
• Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS), vehicle inspections, and load securement standards.
• Experience operating truck and trailer combinations strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally more with assistance.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday.
• Ability to climb in and out of trucks and trailers and work at varying heights when securing loads.
• Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Manual dexterity required to operate tools, machinery, and secure loads.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery safely for extended periods.
