Dir, Surgery Nursing Department: PCH-EV JV | Nursing Administration Location: Gilbert Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Director/Management Posting #: 1023550 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Director of Surgery Nursing provides strategic leadership and operational management of multiple departments and locations, focusing on service line strategies, financial oversight, and performance improvement. Responsibilities Financial Management Develop operational plans, initiatives, budgets, and programs supporting patient care strategies. Manage throughput and productivity metrics and operational budgets. Ensure capital planning and maintain a 3‑year plan. Partner with legal and finance to secure optimal contract terms. Work with finance to capture patient billing. Human Resource Management Develop and manage performance trends and staffing plans to meet patient care volumes. Manage human resources within labor law and hospital policy. Apply recruitment techniques to fill leader and staff vacancies. Oversee onboarding process and evaluate leaders and staff. Conduct evaluations and implement performance development. Ensure a Just Culture environment. Performance Improvement Collaborate with Quality and Enterprise Services to ensure patient‑centered, evidence‑based care. Facilitate external relationships to monitor trends and identify best practices. Monitor customer service strategies and partner with unit leadership to implement improvements. Direct daily operations to maintain professional and regulatory standards. Lead quality improvement and survey readiness efforts. Strategic Management Develop, implement, and lead key initiatives providing high quality patient care. Accountable for strategic goals and project outcomes. Drive innovation and change improvement. Ensure services meet the needs of diverse patient population. Participate in strategy discussions related to growth and expansion. Leadership and Training Provide oversight of leadership and technical direction to managers and staff. Lead departmental and enterprise change management efforts. Act as the key leader in coaching and training. Anticipate departmental needs to ensure optimal outcomes. Ensure staff competencies meet regulatory requirements. Relationship Management and Influencing Behaviors Develop relationships across the enterprise to carry out nursing and organizational strategies. Collaborate with senior executives and operations staff. Apply crisis management principles to handle situations. Influence leaders by model communication and professional behavior. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Pursuing or completed MSN or Master’s in related field. Experience: Five or more years of clinical pediatric experience in nursing including 2 years of management/leadership experience or 5 years of leadership experience. Licensure: Current State of Arizona RN License from a compact state with multistate privileges or ability to establish licensure prior to start date; National certification in area of specialty or related field; Current BLS certification. Physical Requirements: Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; Transitioning to role requires fine motor skills and standing frequently.
