Civil Engineer for AI Model Training

Role Overview
Apply civil engineering expertise to develop high-quality materials that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. This remote contract role centers on translating real-world engineering judgment into realistic tasks, solutions, and assessment criteria. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and author authentic civil engineering evaluation tasks covering structural design, transportation, water systems, and site development.
- Source, create, and curate technical materials such as engineering drawings, geotechnical reports, specification sheets, cost estimates, and regulatory code references.
- Develop complex engineering problems involving code compliance and nuanced regulatory and geometric constraints.
- Determine accurate engineering solutions that satisfy applicable constraints and requirements.
- Create detailed, multi-part rubrics for evaluating technical correctness and code adherence.
- Create and validate realistic, high-volume project documentation files, including CSVs, PDFs, and spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to improve task clarity, realism, and evaluation standards.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience contributing to civil engineering projects across diverse domains.
- Professional Engineer license, or active pursuit of licensure, is strongly preferred.
- Strong command of civil engineering, code compliance, technical documentation, and constraint-based reasoning.
- Experience preparing and managing design specifications and other code-compliance documentation.
- Ability to source and interpret regulatory codes and apply them to technical solutions.
- Proficiency creating or reviewing complex technical artifacts, including drawings, reports, and project evaluation data sets.
- Strong written communication skills for producing clear, comprehensive evaluation materials.
Work Terms
- Remote, independent contractor engagement.
- Compensation is output-based and paid for each task that meets project specifications. Completion time varies based on experience and workflow.
- Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks per week.
- Selected candidates should be ready to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing the required onboarding steps.
Compensation
$50 to $100 per hour.
