Registered Dietitian (RD) – Contract Opportunity Vernon, TX $52/hour | Full-Time | 3-Month Contract + Possible Extension Start Date: June 1, 2026 Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Are you a compassionate and experienced Registered Dietitian looking to make a meaningful impact in behavioral health and long-term patient care? We are seeking a dedicated Dietitian to join a multidisciplinary healthcare team supporting patients at Vernon State Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a nutrition professional who is passionate about improving patient outcomes through individualized nutrition care and education. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nutrition care to patients throughout the facility Develop individualized nutrition and dietary plans based on patient needs and medical conditions Monitor patient dietary intake, progress, and overall nutritional health Educate patients on healthy eating habits and balanced nutrition Collaborate with physicians, families, and treatment teams regarding nutrition-related needs Document nutrition assessments and recommendations in the medical record Review and approve patient menus in coordination with Food Services leadership Ensure compliance with facility procedures, CMS standards, and Joint Commission guidelines Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics and/or Nutrition from an accredited college or university Active Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the National Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Current Texas licensure through the Texas State Board of Examiners Minimum of 2 years of clinical Dietitian experience Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification Valid Texas driver’s license Excellent communication and documentation skills Additional Requirements Ability to meet immunization requirements Must complete required drug screening and fingerprinting Completion of all facility required training Ability to comply with all facility SOPs and accreditation standards Why This Opportunity?
