Part-Time Administrative Hearings Officer

The City of Oak Park, located in Metropolitan Detroit, provides municipal services to support residents, businesses, and the community. Job Title Part-Time Administrative Hearings Officer (on-site, Oak Park, MI) Responsibilities This role serves as a quasi-judicial officer and is responsible for administering and presiding over administrative hearings related to municipal code violations, including blight, parking, and other civil infractions. Conduct fair and impartial hearings; Administer oaths and affirmations; Hear testimony; Rule on motions, objections, and the admissibility of evidence; Maintain an accurate record of proceedings; Issue written findings, conclusions, and final orders based on evidence and applicable ordinances; Regulate the course of hearings, issue subpoenas when necessary, and impose fines, costs, or other sanctions in accordance with City Code. Qualifications Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney Experience with municipal law, building codes, or housing maintenance law preferred Prior experience in trial practice or administrative hearings Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills Ability to conduct hearings, evaluate evidence, and issue clear written decisions Ability to interact effectively with the public, City staff, and officials Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment #J-18808-Ljbffr
