Visit to learn more about the company and brands. This position performs all microbiologist and analytical test assigned to the food processing industry; s/he will report directly to the QA Manager. Job responsibilities but not limited to: Conduct general Food Microbiology and Analytical testing, obtain samples from production, and process the sample preparation for Micro/Analytical testing. Designate various microbiology tasks, including environmental program, but not limited to sample preparation and handling, dilutions, swab tests, etc. Assist in processing samples from receiving through testing, including documentation, recordkeeping, data entry, and communication with the Quality Assurance Manager for any issues or compliance concerns. Assist in maintaining thorough, complete, and timely documentation and recordkeeping as outlined in established SOPs and directed by the Quality Assurance Manager or Director regarding related microtasks. Experiments (shelf-life studies) completed promptly and accurately are routinely performed; thus, documentation procedures have been established. Communicated with outside third-party laboratories and lab supply suppliers regarding quality or issues of concern. Communicate testing results with the quality department and other departments as directed by the Quality Manager. Adhere to and always model good manufacturing practices (GMP) and good laboratory practices (GLP). Maintain clean and organized workspace and micro lab, and always practice “clean as you go” standards. Maintain Lab equipment in good working condition, ensuring it is functional and calibrated within the schedule internally / externally. Assisting with VOC customer/consumer complaints. Resolve quality/food safety issues reported by staff. Participation in product cuttings in Sensory. Participation in third-party audits as needed. Provide assistance as needed, cover QC responsibilities, and serve as backup for QA specialists. 2nd shift 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree desired. B.S. degree in Food, Chemistry, Microbiology, or closely related to the field. At least one year of micro test or food analysis lab experience and basic knowledge of microbiology. Must have strong knowledge of food safety principles and sanitation and understand food microbiology, laboratory testing procedures, and data trace temperature measurement systems or equivalents. Strong knowledge of computer skills, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other database performance abilities. English is required, and being bilingual is a plus. Must be a team player with great detailed and analytical skills and willingness to learn new tasks. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and regulatory documents, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed with reasonable notice. Self-driven, results-oriented, able to work independently, able to work with confidential materials, detail-oriented, and excellent recordkeeping and documentation skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
