Plant EngineerLocation: Mason City, IowaSalary: $125K – $155K plus bonusJob Summary of the Plant Engineer:As the leader of the maintenance and engineering department in a fast-paced plant, the Plant Engineer will be at the forefront of maintaining top-tier building and equipment performance. By minimizing mechanical downtime and ensuring seamless product flow, you'll keep our production lines operating at peak efficiency. You’ll spearhead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art maintenance systems, including Preventative and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, and more, propelling our plant to new heights as part of a High Performing Manufacturing Organization. As the leader of engineering activities, you will ensure our facilities remain at the forefront of food manufacturing processes, creating and executing highly creative technological projects. In this position, you won't just oversee maintenance—you'll enhance it to new levels of efficiency and innovation!Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Plant Engineer:Responsible for overseeing capital projects from inception to completion.Coordinate and schedule all project components to ensure minimal disruption to plant operations, delivering projects on time, within budget, and without compromising safety, food safety, or environmental standards.Lead the effort in crafting and implementing advanced maintenance systems that maintain our plant at peak performance levels.Assist with driving Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, and other impactful strategies, ensuring optimal scheduling to maximize task completion while minimizing downtime.Supervise the maintenance team by assigning tasks, enforcing protocols, and directing work assignments.Act as the ultimate troubleshooter by providing immediate fixes and long-term solutions to everyday operational issues. Whether diagnosing, conducting analyses, or addressing equipment malfunctions, you'll ensure the smooth operation of the plant with minimal recurring problems.Foster continuous improvement by formulating and overseeing Key Performance Indicators that gauge the success of the maintenance function.Education & Experience Requirements of Plant Engineer:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited university and a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, is mandatory.Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in team management and project leadership is required.Proficiency in Food Manufacturing operations.Experience in Change Management methodologies.Excellent leadership, planning, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.Advanced technical proficiency in mechanical and electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.) and the ability to lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing setting.Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc.Ability to operate exposure monitoring equipment, interpret data, and communicate results effectively.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.Strong communication and presentation skills in written and verbal formats.Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.Strong interpersonal, technical, and presentation skills are essential.
