Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an ICU Registered Nurse (RN), you will:

• Perform admission and ongoing assessment of patient's condition.
• Provide nursing care to meet the patient's physical, psychological and spiritual needs.
• Notify doctor of changes in assessment that require attention.
• Design, direct, evaluate, and document the plan of care, patient/family teaching and the transition of care plan to include a safe appropriate level of care discharge.
• Prepare patients physically, psychologically, and spiritually for treatments, surgeries and diagnostic studies to help reduce patient anxiety.
• Know patients' conditions and report significant changes to Charge Nurse/Team Leader, and/or physician.
• Implement patient safety initiative and protocols including medication safety practices, physician orders, consult notifications.
• Reassess patients at appropriate intervals following interventions.
• Notifies physician as necessary to modify interventions.
• Adjusts nursing care to meet patient's emerging and changing needs.
• Gives and receives report using Bedside Shift Report including family participation.
• Provides an accurate and comprehensive report to the oncoming shift to help establish continuity of patient care.

Job Requirements

Required:

• Bachelors Of Science Nursing and one (1) year of RN experience, upon hire
• Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire
• Registered Nurse: TX, upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 months

St. Luke's Health - The Woodlands Hospital is a 245 bed facility serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. The hospital has been recognized as a Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, and is proud to serve as the clinical home for the Dan L Duncan Cancer Center. The hospital was awarded an "A" hospital safety grade by The Leapfrog Group in both 2023 and 2025. Clinical services provided include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women's services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level III nurseries), surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorder services.
