Senior Technical Engineer

Job Overview Senior Technical Engineer position in the Abbott Diabetes Care division located in Austin, TX. Responsibilities Provide expert technical support for nonconformances related to manufacturing or field complaints using root cause analysis (RCA). Implement remediation solutions to address root cause and prevent recurrence across multiple sites. Govern and support engineering aspects of risk management process, including periodic review and alignment of process failure mode and effects analysis (pFMEA) documentation. Plan and conduct small- to medium-size engineering projects, manage schedules, coordinate with internal and external staff, and maintain project controls and reporting for cost, scope, and schedule. Perform economic analysis and feasibility studies related to project alternatives, achieving financial targets. Benchmark internally and externally, anticipate trends and respond to environmental changes, and prepare for potential scenarios. Execute investigations and action plans to address nonconformances of products, processes, equipment, and systems. Design and lead complex experiments, analyze data, report findings, and communicate recommendations. Create or modify designs for intermediate problems, writing detailed design specifications. Lead data collection and analysis to identify insights and propose solutions or opportunities. Implement improvements to methods, designs, and processes to reduce cost and optimize efficiencies. Communicate with stakeholders at various levels, building collaborative networks and mentoring team members in technical expertise. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence. Minimum 7 years of work experience with significant engineering, project management, and/or operational experience. Demonstrated competency within a discipline. Strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience handling complex scope analysis where multiple competing factors are involved. Judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to negotiate and reconcile differences, and maintain working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Preferred: background in medical devices, pharmaceutical, or other regulated sector; knowledge of medical device regulations and compliance requirements; competency with financial systems; understanding of procurement and contracting processes.
