We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our esteemed outpatient practice specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry in Oakland, California. Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting, allowing for convenient access to our outpatient office while supporting a balanced work-life dynamic. You'll work Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient demand. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough, comprehensive mental health assessments to accurately evaluate the emotional and psychological needs of children and adolescents.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that are sensitive to developmental stages, family dynamics, and cultural considerations.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and play therapy, to address various mental health issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders.
- Engage in family therapy sessions aimed at fostering healthier dynamics between parents, caregivers, and children, thereby creating a nurturing home environment.
- Collaborate actively with child psychiatrists and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic, coordinated care for each patient.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, displaying a calm and effective approach to urgent situations involving young individuals.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment methodologies, and accessible community resources, empowering them to advocate for their own well-being.
- Maintain precise and confidential documentation of patient interactions and progress in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in regular team meetings and case consultations to discuss best practices and share insights from ongoing professional development.
- Stay informed about current research and advancements in child and adolescent mental health to continually refine therapeutic approaches.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our practice primarily serves children and adolescents facing a myriad of mental health challenges, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, and adjustment issues. By focusing on this age group, we address the unique psychological needs of young individuals in a supportive environment, ensuring that they develop the coping mechanisms necessary for healthy emotional development.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in California.
- In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent mental health issues, including evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Proven experience providing individual and family therapy to young populations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabled by a nurturing and child-centric approach.
- Ability to establish rapport and trust with children and their families, making them feel comfortable and understood.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and software applications relevant to clinical documentation and patient management.
- Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting specializing in child and adolescent therapy.
- Experience utilizing advanced therapeutic models customized for younger demographics.
- A history of participation in professional development workshops, certifications, or related training in child psychology.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, coupled with an appealing sign-on bonus. In addition, we provide:
