Respiratory Therapist

Role: Respiratory Therapist responsible for collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive respiratory care in a long-term care setting. Key Duties Manage and monitor oxygen therapy, including CPAP and BiPAP devices, maintaining supplies as needed. Assess new admissions and referals for appropriate respiratory interventions, including pneumonia reduction strategies. Support ventilator-dependent residents and monitor physiological responses to therapies, adjusting care accordingly. Document assessments, therapies, and patient responses in electronic medical records. Educate patients on respiratory conditions, medication use, smoking cessation, and device operation. Train nursing staff on respiratory care, equipment, and treatments. Participate in care planning and assist with emergency procedures such as CPR. Perform other assigned duties as necessary. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma and a degree from an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program. Valid license from the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board. Dependability, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills. Ability to make clinical decisions, teach, and instruct staff and patients. Knowledge of long-term care regulations and procedures.
