Behavioral Health Senior Clinician- Behavioral Health Outpatient

Job Announcement Join a compassionate and collaborative behavioral health team dedicated to supporting adults with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co‑occurring conditions. Under the supervision of the team supervisor and manager, this position provides direct clinical services to a diagnostically complex adult population and their families within a recovery‑oriented treatment environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive screenings, assessments, and intake evaluations. Develop diagnoses, treatment plans, and service recommendations. Provide evidence‑based individual and group interventions. Deliver case management, supportive counseling, monitoring, advocacy, and linkage to community resources. Coordinate care with outside providers, agencies, and support systems. Manage utilization review activities and insurance‑related requirements. Monitor treatment progress and adjust interventions based on clinical complexity and mental status. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with local, state, federal, and insurance requirements. Collaborate as an integral member of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team. Illustrative Duties Perform complex evaluations and make independent diagnoses using DSM‑5. Provide individual, family, and group treatment. Maintain a diverse caseload of clients with acute and chronic mental illness. Approve and/or implement therapeutic treatment plans. Conduct intensive clinical interventions. Provide family therapy in a residential setting. Recommend, monitor, and coordinate clinical care to non‑CSB clients. Prepare court‑ordered diagnostic and forensic evaluations. Provide discharge planning and coordination of after‑care service plans for clients leaving psychiatric hospitals. Collaborate with service professionals as participant or lead of Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). Consult with professionals on a variety of problems including delivery of needed services for clinically complex cases. Provide liaison to community agencies to facilitate communication and service provision. Monitor and analyze the impact of psychotropic medication on client functioning and mental status. Provide risk assessments for dangerousness to self and others. Provide crisis stabilization and crisis management. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of principles, theories, and methods of psychological and social development. Thorough knowledge of intake procedures, social history development, and interviewing techniques. Thorough knowledge of major schools of treatment for emotionally and socially disturbed individuals. Knowledge of psychiatric, psychological, and sociological terminology and concepts. Ability to conduct mental health assessments and apply treatment approaches/modalities. Ability to formulate diagnoses for clients with acute, chronic, severe mental illness. Ability to diagnostically interpret data from psychological test results, social histories, and interviews. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, public and private sector organizations, community groups, and the general public. Ability to monitor and analyze the impact of psychotropic medications. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited college with a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing. Two years of clinical experience. Current license to practice in Virginia as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or Licensed Nurse Practitioner. Valid motor vehicle’s driver’s license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent). Benefits & Support Highly competitive pay and benefits package. Provide National Provider Identifier. Licensed providers must not opt out of Medicare provider status. Commitment to flexibility for emergency/essential services as program needs allow.
