Respiratory Therapist RRT - Part time - Nights

Job Category: Allied Health Work – Shift Schedule: 12 Hr Morning - Evening Job Summary Administers and coordinates a variety of treatments related to respiratory problems for patients across the lifespan; properly charts treatment given. Provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to complex patients, consistently communicating updates on patient care. Responds to emergency and critical care situations, extending therapy. Assesses patients and takes appropriate action. Caring for patients from neonate to geriatric, seeks and provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Minimum Qualifications Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory Care Professional) in the state of Georgia. Associate’s degree. Respiratory therapy training through an accredited school and successful completion of the registry examination. Preferred Qualifications 1 year prior experience in a relevant position. Preferred licensure or other certifications. Preferred educational requirements. Preferred experience. Essential Skills Good interpersonal skills; good communication skills. Responsibilities Communicate effective updates to nurses on patient care issues, ventilator changes, and ABG (Arterial Blood Gas) results. Communicate with physicians on patient orders, critical ABG results, and ventilator changes. Communicate critical and floor care concerns to the supervising staff. Provide shift reports at bedside when possible. Complete documentation in all aspects of the medical record, including verifying orders and documenting treatments. Maintain ABG logs, quality control, and maintenance records. Manage critical care patients, demonstrating ability to regulate ventilators by parameters. Assimilate chart information such as CXR, lab, H&P, and progress notes to manage patients. Assist nurses with other duties as requested, minimizing time away from units. Document thoroughly any changes in patient care plan, providing clear explanations of events and deviations. Manage floor therapy modalities, performing assigned therapy and new starts in a timely manner. Provide patient education and follow up on critical care patients moving to floor areas. Understand oxygen and aerosol protocols and inform floor of unexpected delays in treatment. Contribute to productive and effective department operation, organizing patient care and setting priorities. Perform patient consultations/assessments on physician or nursing request.
